Super DVD, manufactured by MasterSoft Inc. is a fair DVD player program that simply plays DVD and VCD discs; and VOB and VCD files, but lacks most of the features we've come to expect from competitive DVD player programs.

Feature Set:

Some features that Super DVD does have include the ability to adapt the DVD play speed and to adjust the screen size to either normal or full. It allows you to play DVD and VCD disks, and VOB and VCD files (sometimes). With the exception of these handy features, Super DVD has a limited feature set.

Ease of Use:

Super DVD Player has a well-designed, user-friendly control panel, contributing to an easy navigation process. However, we encountered some difficulties when attempting to play certain types of files, such as VCD files and .asf media files.

Ease of Installation:

Super DVD installation requires two prerequisites-first, pick the files you want to install, and second, register online. After that, installation is simple.

Video Quality:

Super DVD's video quality ranks about average among competitive software products. The software allows you to adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, yellow/blue and red/green color settings.

Audio Quality:

Super DVD Player does not allow you to select from a range of speakers individually. Most players offer the option to select 2 speakers, 4 speakers, 5 speakers or more. This function makes it possible to customize the surround sound according to your preferences. The player, however, provides AC-3 surround support which gives you the Dolby Digital. This divides the movie soundtrack into five distinct channels.

Help/Support:

The documentation included with Super DVD is limited. It does include an introductory segment for each of the options on the control panel and instructions on how to play and rip DVDs, but the player lacks the broad range of categories included in top-ranking packages. Super DVD offers a FAQs section and email support.

Summary:

Super DVD Player is a fair DVD player compared to top-of-the-line DVD players. When you register the product, you are automatically granted a free upgrade of the system. The program has the ability to play Divx formatted files as well as other media formats, although some, including VCD files and .asf media files are difficult to install. There are much more comprehensive software packages on the market.
